This policy explains how Oxton Science Journal, maintained by Oxton Education, handles personal data. It is aligned with the Brazilian General Data Protection Law (LGPD — Lei nº 13.709/2018) and comparable data-protection principles.

Data we collect

  • Account data — name, email, affiliation, ORCID and role, provided at registration or via ORCID/Google sign-in.
  • Submission data — manuscript metadata, co-author details, declarations and uploaded files.
  • Review data — reviewer reports, recommendations and correspondence.
  • Technical data — minimal session information required for authentication and security (e.g. login attempts for abuse prevention).

How we use it

Personal data are used solely to operate the editorial and publishing process: managing submissions, peer review, editorial decisions, publication, and communicating with the parties involved. Published articles necessarily make author names, affiliations and ORCID public, as is standard scholarly practice.

Legal basis

We process data on the basis of the execution of the author–journal relationship, the legitimate interest in maintaining the scholarly record, and, where applicable, your consent. Consent can be withdrawn at any time, subject to the integrity of the published record.

Sharing

We do not sell or rent personal data and do not share it with third parties for marketing. Data may be shared only as strictly necessary for the publishing process (e.g. DOI registration metadata sent to registration agencies) or when required by law.

Confidentiality of peer review

The double-blind review process keeps the identities of authors and reviewers confidential. Reviewers and editors must not disclose or misuse manuscript content.

Retention

Account and submission records are retained for as long as necessary to maintain the editorial and scholarly record. Security logs are retained only briefly.

Your rights (LGPD)

  • Confirmation that we process your data, and access to it.
  • Correction of incomplete, inaccurate or outdated data.
  • Anonymisation, blocking or deletion of unnecessary or excessive data.
  • Portability and information about with whom data has been shared.
  • Withdrawal of consent, subject to the integrity of published content.

Cookies

We use only essential cookies required for authentication and security. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.
