Oxton Science Journal operates a rigorous double-blind peer review process. The identities of authors and reviewers are mutually concealed so that every manuscript is judged solely on its scientific merit.
Our review model
All research content is peer-reviewed. Under double-blind review, authors do not know who reviews their work, and reviewers do not know who the authors are. This protects impartiality and reduces bias related to identity, seniority or institution.
What reviewers assess
- Originality, significance and relevance to the journal's scope
- Soundness of methods and appropriateness of the analysis
- Validity of the results and whether conclusions are supported by the data
- Clarity, structure and completeness of reporting
- Ethical conduct and adequate disclosure of funding, conflicts and data
The review process
- Editorial screening — the editor checks scope, integrity, anonymisation and completeness.
- Reviewer assignment — independent experts are invited based on subject expertise and absence of conflicts.
- Review — reviewers submit structured, confidential reports with a recommendation.
- Decision — the handling editor weighs the reports and decides.
- Revision — authors respond point-by-point; further rounds may follow.
Editorial decisions
Possible outcomes are accept, minor revision, major revision or reject. Decisions rest with the handling editor and are based on scientific merit, not on the volume of reviewer comments alone.
Reviewer responsibilities
- Treat manuscripts as confidential and never use unpublished material.
- Provide objective, constructive and timely feedback.
- Declare any conflict of interest and decline when appropriate.
- Flag suspected misconduct (plagiarism, data fabrication, duplicate submission) to the editor.
Timeliness & transparency
We aim to reach a first decision as promptly as rigour allows and to keep authors informed of status through their dashboard. An optional, clearly disclosed fast-track route is available and never influences the outcome.
Confidentiality & recognition
The review process is confidential. Reviewers who complete an assessment can obtain a verifiable certificate of contribution in recognition of their service to the scientific community.
