Oxton Science Journal welcomes original, methodologically sound and ethically conducted research. This guide explains everything you need to prepare and submit a manuscript for double-blind peer review.
Before you submit
- Confirm your work fits the journal's Aims & Scope.
- The manuscript must be original, not previously published, and not under consideration elsewhere.
- All co-authors must have approved the submission and meet authorship criteria.
- Prepare an anonymised manuscript (no author names, affiliations or identifying details) for double-blind review.
Article types
- Original research — full empirical studies (typically 3,000–7,000 words).
- Systematic reviews & meta-analyses — following PRISMA where applicable.
- Narrative & scoping reviews — critical syntheses of a field.
- Methodological & protocol papers.
- Case studies and clinical experiences.
- Short communications and editorials.
Manuscript structure
Prepare your manuscript with the following elements:
- Title page (submitted separately): title, authors, affiliations, ORCID iDs and the corresponding author's contact.
- Abstract — up to 250 words, structured where appropriate (Background, Methods, Results, Conclusions).
- Keywords — 3 to 6 terms, separated by semicolons.
- Main text — Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion and Conclusion.
- References, tables and figure legends.
Formatting & template
Submit editable text (.docx or .odt). Use a legible 11–12 pt font, 1.5 line spacing, and number all pages and lines. To make preparation easier, download and write your manuscript using our official template.
Required statements
At submission you must provide, where applicable:
- Ethics approval and, for studies with participants, evidence of informed consent.
- Funding sources.
- Conflicts of interest.
- Author contributions.
- Data availability.
- Use of artificial intelligence — disclose any use of generative AI tools.
References & citations
Cite the most relevant and current literature. References may follow APA 7th edition or Vancouver style, applied consistently; include DOIs where available. Every in-text citation must have a matching reference and vice versa.
Figures & tables
Provide figures at sufficient resolution (≥ 300 dpi) and tables as editable text. Number them in order of appearance, give each a concise caption, and cite each in the text. Ensure you hold the rights to any reproduced material.
The submission process
- Create an account and start a submission in the submission system.
- Select the article type and confirm the manuscript fits the journal's scope.
- Upload the anonymised manuscript, title page and any supplementary files.
- Complete the required declarations and suggest keywords.
- Review and submit — you can save and return to a draft at any step.
Peer review
Manuscripts are first screened editorially, then evaluated by independent experts under double-blind peer review. Decisions (accept, minor/major revision, or reject) are made on scientific merit. You can track the status of your submission from your dashboard.
After acceptance
Accepted articles are copyedited and typeset; you will review a proof before publication. Each article receives a persistent DOI and structured metadata, and is published in immediate open access.
Open access, copyright & fees
Authors retain copyright and articles are published under a Creative Commons licence. Standard submissions are published with no article processing charge. An optional, transparent fast-track route is available and does not influence editorial decisions.
Submission checklist
- Manuscript is anonymised for double-blind review.
- Title page prepared separately with authors, affiliations and ORCID.
- Abstract (≤ 250 words) and 3–6 keywords included.
- All required statements completed.
- References formatted consistently with DOIs where available.
